For the sporty people among us who love an active holiday, we would like to present an overview of the activities you can partake in:
Het Buitenbeentje
Fancy some recreation on and around the Yser? Then you are at the right address at Het Buitenbeentje in Diksmuide. You can rent kayaks, canoes and go-carts for adventurous trips. Large groups or families can even rent a family canoe for twelve people.
Speelhoeve ’t Land van Vlierbos
Right next to the Yser Tower, there’s Speelhoeve ’t Land van Vlierbos, an green oasis where both young and old can relax. Children can have fun on the playground or at the petting zoo while you enjoy a drink on the sunny terrace of the café. On top of that, you can pick delicious, fresh and organic fruits in the orchard, including strawberries, raspberries and grapes.
Boat trips on the Yser
Would you like to combine a bike ride and a boat trip and enjoy a luxurious diner on the water or go for a tour at the harbour? There are numerous boat trip formulas available on the Yser. You can find more information at www.seastar.be.
Cycling route B&C
You can discover the most beautiful places around Esen by following our mapped-out cycling route. The 48.6 km loop takes you past the Vrijbos, Brasserie De Kippe (restaurant) and nature reserve De Blankaart, among other places. The bicycle hubs will easily show you the way and the cups of coffee on the map indicate where you can go for snacks and refreshments.
