The Mad Brewers
A mere 500 metres away from our holiday home, there’s the beer brewery De Dolle Brouwers – known for its Oerbier. On Saturdays and Sundays from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., you can visit and have a look behind the scenes of the traditional brewing process. Every Sunday at 3 p.m., the brewery organises guided tours.
Westvleteren
If you visit the Saint Sixtus Abbey in Westvleteren, you can’t possibly leave without a container of the world-famous Westvleteren beer. The monks sell both light and dark beers in authentic wooden crates.
Butcher's shop Zoete (Esen)
At Slagerij Zoete in Esen, you’ll find refined Belgian quality meat, cold cuts, tapas platters and home-made dishes. Even on Sundays you can buy all kinds of delicacies from 7:30 a.m. to 12.00 p.m.
